Vocabulary Lesson

Today in class, one of my students asked what the word "thin" means. We discussed how it could me the opposite of thick and gave some examples. I then explained that it also could mean skinny and gave her a sentence example. As soon as I finished the sentence, one of my cute boys yells out, "My dad is not thin! Either is my mom!" Trying to teach a bit of manners, I tried to explain that we don't need to explain if a person isn't thin, to which he replied, "Why not, they are not THIN! My dad's goes way out here (as he is taking his hands and showing a huge stomach growing in front of him). I decided I was not going to win with this kid and decided to drop it.....kids truly say the craziest things!
